MEETINGS WITH RIGHTS OF THE CHILD CLUBS IN 10 PROJECT SCHOOLS IN THE BEKWAI MUNICIPALITY
Introduction
Series of training was organized for ten (10) Rights of the Child Clubs in the Bekwai Municipality. The aim of the training was to sensitize them on the Child Rights and Responsibilities and how to live a courteous life as Boys and Girls. The training was undertaken in Islamic JHS, Bogyawe M/A JHS, Ankase M/A JHS, Pepedan SDA JHS, Sanfo Aduam M/A JHS, Kwamang M/A JHS, Denyase M/A JHS, Asanso M/A JHS, Anglican M/A JHS and Asokwa SDA JHS. An inter house quiz competition was conducted among the schools to access the impact of the trainings on the children.
Attendance
The meetings involved the Community Child Protection Committee in all the 10 communities, Pupils, Teachers, Parents and staff of RRIG
Outputs
Some teenage girls openly discussed issues concerning their wellbeing to the Girl Child Coordinators of the school. Children recommended more of the quiz competitions to test their knowledge on what has been taught.

INAUGURATION OF THE DISTRICT CHILD PROTECTION COMMITTEE IN THE BEKWAI MUNICIPALITY


Introduction
A day meeting was organized on the Thursday, January 11, 2017 at the Bekwai Municipal Assembly Hall to inaugurate the District Child Protection Committee. The rationale for the inauguration was to strengthen the linkages among the Child Protection institution as well as the Community Child Protection Committees in all the 10 communities.
Attendance
A total of 30 participants were present. Among the participants were representatives from CHRAJ, Social Welfare, Ghana Health Service, MOFA, NCCE, Community Child Protection Committee in all the 10 communities, Bekwai Queen Mother, Gender Officer, Bekwai Magistrate, and RRIG staff.
Output
Among the role of the District Child Protection Committee mentioned are;
To meditate on non – criminal cases.
To settle peaceful all cases involving children welfare.
Promote, protect and defend the right of children.
Educate parents and community on issues of children.
Create awareness on violence abuse against children.
Sensitize people on laws on children.
Collate data on children and share with regional children protection.
